Druskininkai spa is one of the oldest Lithuanian spas, es-
tablished in 1794.
Children`s sanatorium "Saulute" was established in 1953. It
was one of the largest and most important children`s treatment centres in Lithuania.

The PHARE and TACIS LIEN rehabilitation program for children 
with cerebral palsy (CP) is being implemented in Druskininkai 
children`s rehabilitation sanatorium "Saulute" since November 1995. The program consists of three parts:
● Theoretical and practical training of mothers with CP
children;
● Production of individual rehabilitation equipment for
children;
● Raising of sanatorium and republic specialist`s quali-
fikacion and help to the local rehabilitacion centres.
